- Silk 20/2Nm 100g ConeA rainbow of colours in 20/2Nm spun silk. Hand dyed for us in India in both solid and tie dyed colours. This metric count is slightly thicker than the more widely available 30/2 and 60/2, we think it is a great weight for weaving – it is also suitable for knitting, crochet, lace making, quilting and embroidery. It is hand dyed in small batches, this means that although technically repeatable, no two batches are ever exactly the same. This adds to the beauty of the yarn but it is important to make sure you order sufficient for your product as we cannot guarantee to still have matching stock if you run out some time later. As with many yarns, colour fastness is not guaranteed and the production methods used with this yarn does mean that there may be some colour run from some colours when wet finished. We always suggest wet finishing a sample before embarking on your project to see how the yarn will behave. We are happy to supply this particular yarn on a skein if you would prefer to wash the yarn before working with it. Please advise if you would like this service either by contacting…

Overview

The Laila loom is designed for weavers who do not have enough space for a very large loom or who want an additional loom for sampling or experimental projects. With a 70cm weaving width the Laila loom is suitable for weaving all types of fabric except heavy rugs. The Laila bench, which is especially proportioned for this loom is supplied with the loom unless otherwise requested by the customer. When not in use the back of the Laila folds up, even with a warp in place. This enables space saving storage against a wall.

Laila offers a true countermarch loom in a compact package and is available with 4 or 8 shafts. As with all Toika floor looms Laila arrives flat packed. Assembly is straight forward with bolts and barrel nuts used to fit the frame components together using the Allen key supplied.

Top of the Lamms Tie-Up

Countermarch looms like Laila can also be tied up in the less traditional way to allow changing of the tie up to be made from the lamms rather than the treadles. This reduces much of the crawling under the loom that is required on most floor looms. If you would like information on this method ask us when you order your loom.

Comprehensive Accessories

In addition to the above we supply all Laila Looms with the following specification:

A minimum of 100 Texsolv heddles per shaft as ordered
A pre cut Texsolv tie up set, or Texsolv cord and pegs to set up using the top of the lamms method.
A stainless steel reed in the dent size of your choice
Cloth aprons to both warp and cloth beams
Delivery to a UK mainland address
