- Silk 20/2Nm 100g ConeA rainbow of colours in 20/2Nm spun silk. Hand dyed for us in India in both solid and tie dyed colours. This metric count is slightly thicker than the more widely available 30/2 and 60/2, we think it is a great weight for weaving – it is also suitable for knitting, crochet, lace making, quilting and embroidery. It is hand dyed in small batches, this means that although technically repeatable, no two batches are ever exactly the same. This adds to the beauty of the yarn but it is important to make sure you order sufficient for your product as we cannot guarantee to still have matching stock if you run out some time later. As with many yarns, colour fastness is not guaranteed and the production methods used with this yarn does mean that there may be some colour run from some colours when wet finished. We always suggest wet finishing a sample before embarking on your project to see how the yarn will behave. We are happy to supply this particular yarn on a skein if you would prefer to wash the yarn before working with it. Please advise if you would like this service either by contacting…

Toika stainless steel reeds have been hand made in the traditional way since 1898 using the best possible raw materials. Specially treated yarn is used as a binder to keep the dents in place. The dents are made from SS430 stainless steel which resists corrosion in a normal studio environment.

The total height of the reed is 12.7 cm (5″), the total width of Toika reeds is up to 30mm (1.18″) longer than the weaving width.

Toika reeds will fit many other brands of loom and offer excellent value for money. Most looms have beater lids that are adjustable to accommodate extra height and open ends that will accommodate any extra length. If your loom doesn’t have these features please ring for advice. We try and keep the reed lengths and dent sizes that are requested frequently by our customers in stock, ready for despatch.

Dents number indicates the number of dents per inch.

Standard dent sizes are expressed as DPI (dents per inch) Toika imperial dent reeds are manufactured to imperial measurements. They are not approximate conversions of metric dent sizes. Dent sizes 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 16, 18, 20, 22 & 25 are available as standard. Other dent spacing can be made as a special order..

Standard weaving widths (in cm) are 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 97, 100, 110, 120 & 130. Lengths over 130cm weaving width can be made to order.
