Slub

« Back to Glossary Index

Slub or slubby yarn refers to a yarn that has been spun with slubs, i.e. thicker sections along the length of the yarn.

Originally seen as a defect, modern spinning techniques allow a deliberate and consistent slub to be introduced. If the slubs are repeated at predictable gaps the fabric woven from it develops roves, texture patterns.
